really like this, good work

HA! Show off. ;) My only complaint is that the pole is so close to the bobber/water.

this is nice but the balloon entry steals the show today. (for me)

Great ripples! The rod is obviously hydrophobic (oil-based paint) and the bobber hydrophilic (rusty).

Excellent ripple work, Could you tell me how you drew it?

Great job, love the work...maybe the reflection of the rod should follow the surface line of the water, but that's just me....and we all know what i think is right, and what is actually right are two diff. things. Very clean, and love the drop ripples.

drops on the water are awesome. one thing bothers me here. the fish is seen under water but the rest of the (i don't know what it's called...the source thing) isn't seen underwater. just its reflection.

lol if the rod is an external... then you should remove the "all source" in your foot notes... thought i'd point that out dude ;)

I thought that to Tofu, had it moved all over the place, but looked at a few pics and it varied. So went with the untaught line as if the rod is being flicked.
ReyRey ReyRey
You painted the Rod????? I don't know...hmmmm
ReyRey ReyRey
Why no water drops on the bobber or the fishing line??
marcoballistic marcoballistic
in my excitment Rey is right, Ihold my hands up, the rod is an adjusted external, sorry if I folled anyone, somehow slipped my mind when putting it up, as it is beyond obvious it is a rod from a photo. sorry all, my bad totally.
marcoballistic marcoballistic
like I said rocky I used a referance image to get the look of a ripple down. then began making several with pen tool and solid colour filling them as I progressed. I used a wet media brush set to select colour selections out of the different blues...
marcoballistic marcoballistic
...that make up the bulk of the waters surface to give it a movement and living look. I then used the wet media brushes to make random ripple effects over the piece, to fill what was a great deal of empty space. Next I went back to the intersecting...
marcoballistic marcoballistic
...ripples and rather crudely went at them and the surrounding areas with the polygon lasso, & on several different layers built up even more blue tones to depict water motion. I was rather pleased with the result. A little different for me some may say
marcoballistic marcoballistic
the bottom left is a culmination of these processes then using overlays and layer styles merging them together, erasing some parts and adding to others until it looked as natural as possible, coupled with the light falling rain...
marcoballistic marcoballistic
...which was drawn by hand with simple soft default brushes, over varying sizes until effect was complete. Fishing line added also draw in, and thats about it really
ReyRey ReyRey
Ok.. Call me a prick. If you could see the fish you should be able to see the bottom of the bobber. The bobber is almost 1/2 the size of the pole.
marcoballistic marcoballistic
come on Rey feel the love mate lol, its a shit rod, probably made from a twig, I did not totally want to loose the source by making it minute, and your right about the bobber being viewable, but decided against it, as it ruined the image...
marcoballistic marcoballistic
...it may have been more realistic, but it conflicted totally with the reflection of the bobber and looked damn awful, sometimes reality can look shut, I however, did to much here to not wish it to look shit in its final guise.
marcoballistic marcoballistic
Now back you go to your Gerbil um joy I say ;o)
dewdew dewdew
Talk about FEEDBACK....Man, you get more feedback than JIMI HENDRIX ;p It amazes me to no end the Small FLAWS that are pointed out in your work. I'm sure it helps you learn, but it has to get nerve racking. Great job small flaws and all.
rockyjob rockyjob
You lost me at ripple....
rockyjob rockyjob
Just kidding, Thanks for explanation though ;)
Claf Claf
What kind of bunch of funny explanations! :D
Claf Claf
In fact this recalls me the explanations you made on this chop: photoshopcontest.com...
Claf Claf
When you look seriously at the source that you pretended you used like a reference that I added at the end of the comments, it makes all your explanations sooooo funny!! ;)
marcoballistic marcoballistic
funny explanation, huh? i stated I used a referance image, unlike that other time, I am confused by the issue here. but more prominently got a domestic so get back to this when I can.
marcoballistic marcoballistic
and good point Matt, cheers, missed that.
marcoballistic marcoballistic
also, how crap to my bubbles look on that other pic.. hell actually the whole things not too hot lol
Claf Claf
What I mean is that on the old chop all your comments about how you made the fish's lips is bullshit. It was an external you used & made a fast and easy color & contrast manipulation.
Claf Claf
Nothing like "lips were done by selecting parts of the stomach and blending them blah blah blah... Finally I used blur and smudge to brush the details into the upper and lower lips to give a more realistic and rounded look blah blah blah..." was true.
marcoballistic marcoballistic
that was no bull, I said in that it was a referance to help make them, but look at the texture, it is made from the tummy selection etc.
Claf Claf
That was total bullshit. So I think you're able to come back with bullshit sometimes... like now. So the rod is external. And I think the ripples is more than a reference, I call it an external with good manipulation.
Claf Claf
Far from your first author's note: [img] i18.photobucket.com...
marcoballistic marcoballistic
I adjusted my authors notes as Rey pointed out an obvious error, and then Matt did likewise
