Sometimes when you have a sharp object on a blurry surface, the object tends to float. If the surface was in focus, the snake would sit better. Also it does not need shadow under the bright side of the snake. Light would be hitting there.

Agree with RR but with regards to the venom drops consider: 1) Making them a bit smaller 2) Change the lighting to reflect the side lighting and the lighting on the eye
