There should be more ambient lighting because the moon is so bright. Took me a while to see the helicopter.

check out my "at worlds end" chop in my portfolio. That will give you a better idea of what to do with the 'ambient lighting' this is way dark and very blue....

I pulled back on the blue, and tweaked the lighting. I think this is as light as I'll be able to get it. Keep in mind that I'm currently working with GIMP, so my lighting options aren't very robust, or at least I don't know how to use them effectively

are your layers blue? (cop, heli, source) or is there a blue layer on top of all this? if there is, try destaturating your levels to near black & white then put your blue mask. notice in your cop source, everything is yellow? you want to reproduce that in

I'll make some adjustments when I get home from work. I have the saturation of all the other layers at -38 right now. I'll go lower.

don't forget to over exaggerate your highlights too. (maybe do this as a top layer set to hard light) it will really help out.

My highlights didn't end up as exaggerated as I would have liked, but I did realize where one of my issues was and eliminated that. Hopefully it looks better.
