Hello, very good entry, creative and well made.
You could try to improve the sharpness, exploring the possibilities of the Sharpen filter (I usually use Smart Sharpen in my work because it is a filter that allows you to configure). Continue participating

What Daenerys wrote. And when you color a b&w image work on a new layer set in "color" mode. When you're done you can play with opacity and saturation. Or paint with a brush set in color mode. Or use both techniques combined... :)
