TIP: when you look at the background image (use link) you will see that your use of shadow is flawed. And you might use red/dark red to create the shape of the creature instead of black.

TIP 2: your second image used also had a wrong shadow. Try finding people who are in full light, that would work better on your picture.

As for the couple running away, they were a last resort, as I couldn't find anyone running away like that who actually fit on a farm. Usually it was city dwellers dressed in office attire. Lighting was the least of my my problems sourcing that out. :D
