here is an effort vote. Comments: this is a boring Idea. If you wanted to do the onion being cut in half as a concept you should have done it close-up and focused on impressing people with your photoshop skills in manipulating the origional source. A scene is great if it has a concept, but there isnt really a concept or story here.
also.. what is that on the lower half of the onion? those horizontal lines the knife is dissapearing into and you should be able to see part of the inside of the onion on the cut off piece... Really the photoshopping isnt bad tho! the post just lacks a concept.

I'm voting for this cos it's nicely done.
Sorry, voter #2, but a story or concept ISN'T really necessary. The important thing is to do a striking still image (or anim if doing a GIF, but that's ANOTHER story. lol).
What makes a striking image can be a number of things: story or concept perhaps, but sometimes simply realism, or imaginative juxtaposition with another image.
There are plenty of posts that don't tell a story as such - Consider the highest voted posts for http://www.photoshopcontest.com/posts?forum_id=823 and http://www.photoshopcontest.com/posts?forum_id=821 for example. They are great, clean images in their own right, without telling any particular story.

oh you wanted a comment... the blade and slices should be going the same direction.. the slices themselves are well done... just not the right direction.. the knife however has major problems
