My wife convinced me that this was worth posting. Three different layers of the cut-out dome were merged to create the cage. I changed the big cat's eyes and thought the composition suported the theme. |

I'd be nervous if I was that bird. the cage looks like it's made of paper.

A little sharpness on the dome element would be very helpful here because it appears that the bird and the cat are more focused which throws off the depth perception in the image as a whole. Very nice concept though.

the depth and focus of the cage work well regadless of the construction. could have worked better as a domestic pet situation.

If the bird and cat are in focus, and they are, then the cage SHOULD be,and is, out of focus.

I like this. I like it that the cage looks somewhat flimsy. It adds to the tenuousness of the situation at hand.

Nice work and looks like a loot of work as well Pat. I like the theme, and the cat looks like it's ready for some "Squab"

Thanks for the tip, Jerry. All the layers and the bird were merged. but I sharpened them anyway. Maybe some slight improvement.

Thanks Tofu for your vote and comment under today's pic. I was concerned that the cage might appear too flimsy, and I spent some time trying to alter it to get a color that would work to "toughen" it. I also thought about a different texture, but I
|

|
Patre
was worried that with a different texture the source "dome" could not be identified. So I went with the original source texture and hoped the idea would carry the weight of theme. All the best, Pat(Patre) :)

Shaman, the left wing is subtle , but does appear on my monitor. It might just be a question of individual monitor's gamma settings.
|
|
|
TheShaman
maybe, being a graphic designer, my monitor is calibrated weekly, so i dunno. just looks like the wing had been erased, but still i dig the overall picture, the wing doesnt take away from anything, i was just curious

TheShaman
by left wing i mean the birds left too, not by our perspective ;)

Patre
Yes, the bird's left wing was what I was referring to..

ok! ::beer:: just making sure we're talking about the same thing

Patre: I like the that the cage looks like paper. That's what sells the story to me. I wouldn't change a thing about the cage.
