scion, i used the polygonal lasso tool to create the octogon and sqaure for the grout stoked it black and set that layer to darken at 70%. the light tiles I filled in with white and set that layer to screen at 60%...

... the square tiles I filled in with black and set that layer to multiply at 40%. I pasted in the drain and added a circle for the grout around it. I was going to put a lot of blood on the floor as well, but I'll leave that to marco.
