night sky photography is so hard without a tripod and a remote, especially with a digital camera. A relative of mine who is really into photography just bought a digital camera with a 10x zoom and a "shot stabilizer". He's able to get really good shots at night even just holding the camera.

My shitty digital camera won't even allow me to adjust the aperature and shutter speed, it only gives "presets" which ultimately blow. Congrats on the new camera!

Clantoncs reminds me, I do have one actual suggestion for night-sky (or any slow shutter-speed) photography: use the self-timer if you don't have a remote control for your camera. Even on a tripod, manually pressing the shutter release button can result in visible camera shake in the photo. The self-timer will delay the actual shutter opening and start of the exposure a few seconds after the shutter release has been pressed. Smile

considering we are from other sides of the world, pretty coinsidental that we both took a photo of the same possition. I wasnt saying they where the same picture Doh! I was refering to the possition the moon was in.

Ahh there you go, I knew the moon spun, but i wasnt aware it spun at the same rate as it orbits the earth, so we do only get to see one side, I suppose thats why floyd had a great hit ( Dark side of the moon) It all makes sence now. See not only am i enjoying myself here, im actually learning something new. Wink

By the way the photo was taken with a canon on a tripod with a remote to stop any vibration. Very Happy
