I was just wondering if anyone might be willing to gather and mail me some of the street sweeper bristles that get left behind when the sweeper goes by?? they are about 1/4 of an inch wide and about 1/8 of an inch thick (i think) and can vary in length.. i'd need prolly 10 or so.. and i would be will ing to repay postage or whatever, tho they should fit in a normal envelope and not cost much to ship... if anyone can help me i would be VERY VERY appreciative
EDIT: i probably should have mentioned that they are made of metal

lol one of the funniest requests I've heard. Sorry, though, don't live in the UK.

You making a "found objects" artwork? Sounds interesting. But I live in Palm Springs...will start looking in the gutters for you though. Anything in the name of art.

Dude, you totally have to contact Wild Willy's Used Bristle and Discarded Pepsi Can Delivery Service!
The guy's having an amazing "going out of business" sale this week!
On a side note, if anyone here lives in Japan and has access to a women's change room, please contact me.
Also, I'm looking for 6 hairs from the tail of a police horse (not as urgent as the first request though)
thanks so much!

Quarter horse, or Beligian, or does it matter?

Be careful... it's not a very good idea to approach a horse from behind.

I'd never ask anyone here to get hairs directly from a horse.
I'm just looking for the ones that get left behind when the horse goes by.

Can't say I've ever seen any of the bristles laying about......but then, I can't say I've ever looked before..
I'll keep an eye out & pm you if I have a result
Btw, have you thought about contacting your local council, the worst they can do is say 'no' (or 'we don't appreciate these kind of wind up phone calls' or.....) you never know

I see. Well, I'll keep my eyes peeled... although the only thing I've ever seen horses leave behind is something I'm fairly certain you're not interested in.

Maybe if you explained what you needed them for it might be more helpfull, I could prolly get you some stainless steel rods at the size you mentioned but im not sure if it would be any use to you, do the rods need to be used and worn or newer condition, Id really like to help but could do with a little more info.

we don't have street sweepers here where i live, so they'd prolly be no help
as for what i want them for, well, i am currently in the process of learning locksmithing and i have heard that that particular sweeper bristle is perfect for makinf tension rods and rakes... i believe that the metal's properties and size/shape allow for better flexibility and strength rather than the bought steel rods/bars..
please rest assured that i have NO plans to use these skills to commit any un lawful acts, i'm just exploring a new hobby, and would like to also rather make the tools by hand

Interesting.
My step-brother runs a lock-smiths and has travelled around europe, teaching locksmithing, errr lock-smithering, umm lock-smithery, whatever its called, in a professional capacity, of course, as he's rated as one of the top lock-smiths available!
