Ok, here is my question.

What is the easiest way to change digitally out shingles on a roof?

I have a picture of my house and removed the shingles (selected it and deleted it). Now I have a picture of different shingles. Some of the shingle pictures are to big, so I have to scale it down to match the size of the current shingles. Then I used perspective to try to get my angle which of course is not correct. Now what I would like to do is select the empty area and do a tile on the other picture so it fills it up correctly.

The problem that I have is that the seams really stand out. The picture I was working on last night I had a seam on all sides. The second problem is, how long it took me to try to align everything and I was looking for a fill feature maybe?

Any ideas? Thank you for your help.

Per request here is what I am talking about. Here is a picture of the house. Now a picture of a shingle. What I want is to replace the current shingles with the other one. This means of course angle and I would have to scale it down and then fill it in. Now the real trick is I have about 10 different shingle pictures that I would love to see the house with.

UPDATE: Paul below just raised a good question. This does not need to look perfect, but of course I hated how I did it by copy & paste.

LOL, I'd like to see the pictures too, (of your roof) Rad, are you doing this to see what the house will look like, and/or is it critical that it looks perfect?

Yep, that is exactly what I want to do. I would love to see "What If" for the shingles on the house. FYI, I have other house pictures, but this is the picture I found quickly. Thank you all for your help.

Here's a quick and dirty 'what if'.



First I scaled the new tile down so it was as small as the grey.

Than, I took a slice of the new roofing and made it a pattern fill.

I made a big rectangle and filled it with the new tile pattern and skewed and distorted the rectangle until the slope of the roof looked right.

Then I made a sandwhich of house/roof/house and punched out the holes in the spaces in the tree where the old tile was so the brown would poke through.

I only took about 10 mins, so it really is just quick and dirty...

We are looking at A LOT of shingles right now. My wife and I are just confused as ever. That is when I had the idea, why not do it in photoshop.

It looks OK, but having a little grub problem this year.

I like quick and dirty. It is just for my wife and I to get a visual on "what if".
