Alright, first off I'm not complaining about how many votes i reivieved (I want to thank everyone that had voted for me Smile and congratulate Claf for his very cool Evil skull) but i want to know why I did not recieve as many votes as I thought i would have. I'm not sure if it was just bad placement within the contest, if the sins contest had impared the chop, or if it wasn't all that good. I am merely just looking for some advice for future "artistic" chops.
Thanks to all,
Z

its too abstract.
Abstract doesnt do well here (usually).

Look at the top 10 images. most show the head manipulated somehow. You didnt do this. You made what my untrained and artisticly blind eye sees as a mess.

Wish I could provide more insight but thats all I have.
Keep posting and you'll get it.

first off let me say this was pretty good (sorry I didnt vote for it), but.... there were about 50 entries that were 'pretty good' with 109 entries, there were about 30 over the top ones out there... you should be happy with 20 votes. On a normal 'non-prize' day that prob would have been good enough for atleast top 10.

Remember prize days, theres not a lot of votes to spread around.
This one I only got 14 votes on http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/105232/old-dog-old-tricks.html it too was a prize day... also you're correct placement does have a lot to do with it... people such as I have time to go through each and every entry, but not everyone does.

I wouldnt worry too much about it. Keep yer head up and keep on choppin.

I had never really thought about that fact that it was prize day, and i hadn't noticed that there was 109 entries. i do agree that there was LOTS of very well done chops, i was quite amazed when i had started looking!

placement does help but even if you're near the top of the first page of entries in a contest and you post an abstract like that against a few well manipulated chops, you'll always be a bit disappointed with the outcome.

Ask Marco...every time he tries something more abstract, he's lost in the middle with the rest of the mediocrity instead of riding his vote wave at the top...go ahead...ask him.

I liked it Z. It really is my wallpaper. Laughing

But I agree that it was just not that much of a "WOW" Shocked factor either. It does look like it took a long time to smudge the pixels around but time spent doesn't always equate to votes. I should know.Laughing

AHA! Stevester!
thats a classic example of what Im talking about.
However, you BETTER be sarcastic about not being happy with 52 votes!

I happen to like that image...its better than most abstracts. It has features I can focus on and understand with out causing a headache.

BUT...BUTT...
it lost to 3 images that MANIPULATED the starting image. Their image still has the same focus/items/features as the starting image only masterfully changed somehow. Take away the starting image from their chops, and they become a picture of nothing.

Take away the starting image from yours and it's still the same image. This causes a loss of some of its "WOW" factor...I dont know why. it just does.

Learn this and you'll succeed Smile
