Contest doesn't appear to restrict the contestants country of origin...

Software itself looks pretty snappy.

Should save on exporting time which is a real pain in the ass.
Especially when concerning web design interfaces and flash prototyping.

- It does not mention if you will get (RECOGNITION) your name next to your entry anywhere in the comptition rules.
(So you may want to put it in your design just in case.)

Hello, Marx-man.

The only restrictions on country of origin are US export controls (countries we are not allowed to do business with). The link for this information is: http://www.altia.com/export_compliance.php

Regarding "snappiness" ... well, we're doing our best to make the tool run as fast as it can. But, we're still using the features of Photoshop to walk through the layers and export images (PNGs get saved out -- which we think is very cool). It is not as fast as we'd like when you get a .psd with a whole bunch of layers.

Jason, thanks...but I dont think you owed any of us an explaination. It all looked pretty standard to most of us I think and if I were running something like that, it sounds just right

I agree, no explanation was needed, the rules and contest sound fine to me and most others Wink

I hate that I won't be able to enter anything due to the fact I'm still using PS7....yep, I'm stuck in the past. Smile

Good Luck with the contest. Very Happy

Actually, Adobe has a plug-in for PS7 that adds the scripting ability, which might enable PhotoProto to run within PS7.

You're welcome to try it, but take note: running PhotoProto in Photoshop 7 is completely untested.

With that said, we would be interested to hear any feedback/results from your PhotoProto test run using PS7 once you get the scripting plug-in installed. I do expect some bugs/oddities, but you might not be totally out of luck with PS7, and if the scripting plug-in does work, you could then enter the PhotoProto contest!

Here's the link to the Photoshop 7 Scripting Plug-In:

Good luck, and let us know how it goes. Thanks!

And thanks for responding.

We plan to ship via FedEX. I'm unaware of any problems shipping to Europe (we've shipped software to the UK, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, etc.). However, if you know that others have had problems shipping to your location, I wouldn't be surprised if we have trouble, too.

I apologize for the qualifier, but I would hate to promise you that I can get it to you only to find out that FedEx won't go there.

Laughing Laughing Laughing Show, nah it can't be me on acid bud, I'd be even more annoyingly nice, not questioning the fine print of a contest from a potential sponsor, bought to our attention by the creator of this site. Which by no means had to be done.

cheers J

if I find some time, i'll be taking a look at this Very Happy

lastly i guess

Are there any size restrictions like max height and width
Aspect ratios if applicable
Colour profiles. for instance rgb
And resolution restrictions like 72 for web etc.

and the download asks for a state (does it matter if you dont live in america)

HA! just draw Marx. Draw.
If I understand the product, its to make interactive graphics to be used on a website. At most, I wouldnt go any larger than 1024x768 for a full screen interactive environment. With that said, I think you should be looking at a subcomponent of a more complete design...like a media interface (as seen in there intro movie) that lets you play a small res movie, music file, display a small image, etc. or use it to design a menu system. With that said, 72 seems right since the idea is to make this stuff work with a website.

Its not something you would use to create something like what we create here. I suggest you also download the training video as it explains all this much better than I could.

Good question. There is not a restriction, but 1024x768 or less would be more desirable. That is, I can see it playing a small role in the judging. Aspect ratios and colors are wide open.

The state field doesn't matter if you live outside the States.
