Hi well i'm new to Photoshop, i recently installed Adobe Fotoshop CS2, and the first thing i noticed was that, that the background was yellow instead of white and i couldn't change it! I tryed but i just don't know why there isn't white color, soo.. could you tell me what to do ?

You need to be a bit clearer... what do you mean the background is yellow?
the background of the new canvas?

yes! and there is no white i can't find the white!

Here is an idea that might explain what is happening. If you don't change your background to a layer, then whatever background color is in your color swatches(foreground and background color squares) will appear as the background color, if for example, you were to take the magic wand and attempt to erase a major part of the picture, but leave the background intact. Also when creating a new layer make sure you opt for the transparent background to eliminate the other options.

Just for an experiment, you might try going to the "file" menu at the top of the photoshop interface. Click on "file", then click on "new". This will bring up a screen that lets you create a totally transparent layer or a white layer etc..

Well the thing is that when i do that and i click on white and the sheet is open instead of white there is yellow. When i try to change any of the color there is no white there, and instead of white there is yellow. And somebody told me about a calibration... and i don't really know what is that...

What are the colors of your foreground and background squares?

Click on the one that is yellow. The next screen will give you color change options. Simply click your cursor in a white area on the screen, then click Ok. The yellow square will turn white and your background will now be white.
What you described is what I thought was happening.
It is very late here in Arizona,so I decided not to send an image of what I'm asking you to do. But if you are uncomfortable with my explanation, I will send an image which will probably be more useful than the text explanation.
Hope this works..

click on the tiny foreground and background sign below the foreground and background squares, if that dont work,,,, reset psc as discribed above

Yeah, do what splodge says, it resets the background to white, BUT it won't take effect on the current pic., so just close your one and start a new one.

i am having the same exact issue. the backround is not only white, but all whites in the program have a yellow tinge to them. very disconcerning. did we ever find a solution?

When I had the problem a wee long while ago..it was because of having played with the display properties on my pc.
rt clik on yer desktop...have fun.
Edit...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's great, i never woulda caught on..
I thought ya had a different problem...
being this one was so obvious I would never have parcelled it without Pauls rolly eyes.
