I hope people reading this would take the time and click on the link to at least appreciate the amount of work put into it. And YES! you have to be patient for it to load in full.

I thought my gif here http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/108083/sci-fi-movie-gif.html
would have done better than it did... BUT OH EFFING WELL.
I still enjoyed doing them, and it got 19 votes.
the funny thing is the gif came out of this http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/108084/lizardzilla.html
which I only used a very small portion of anyway... but ended up spending so much time with something that was sooo small I decided to animate it rather than just keeping it so obscure.
yeah people do need to wait for gif's and I understand sometimes they don't want to wait... thats why I try to make my first frame something visually different so that at least they can vote from that....

Hey thanks for your vote and comment Gran for the corner fish.... the cleanup on it's own was of course worth a vote anyway
Geez I'm now sorry mine won ![Confused](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) seems a lot of people didn't think that it should have.... Seems like a lot more people (me included) thought your Fish deserved a vote. I guess I'll get you next time ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

I would totally agree with this statement. And that is what I strive for every single post... I want to be happy with what I've come up with, and I know for fact that I don't do brilliant quality work every single day. But I try to at least color correct and have things be correct... but lets face it, sometimes its hard to come up with something brilliant... and then to do that every day is near impossible. So I chop what I like. If I don't like what I've done, I either scrap it and start over or don't post... kind of like next mondays source, I can't seem to get it right, so I'm not gonna post anything.... and I love your comments vokaris, I take them to heart, and always try to fix if need be. I too am still learning and by no means know-it-all.

And mediocrity in general should be expected, as most of the 'leaders' are in a race for collecting votes, which means (at least) one entry a day, doing what's 'good enough' - they aren't exactly pushing the envelope on the 'quality' aspect.
and for this. I don't agree... never accept crap... maybe others post just to get votes, but I post cause I really liked what I created and wanted to share it... Votes be damned... I didn't get advantage to not post. I got it cause I like to CHOP and I enjoy making people laugh.. If you like it, great vote for me. If you don't like it or think it needs work tell me about it. Please, I cannot ever get any better if all I hear is "GREAT JOB" or 'I think this is funny'.....
again I'm sorry I won the prize for the corner fish... at least it was an anom contest.. so no friendly votes were garnished off the top... It won cause people liked it.... But I mean I didn't do anything special to mine... (reconstructed the wall, reconstructed the fish, animated the whole thing reconstructed an outside source to fit the scene I was creating, kept it looking good with the size restrictions) WOW this was a nice way to really take the wind out of winning a prize

You know, I'm glad to see such honest discussion going on regarding chopping.
Very refreshing...of course...
I'm not gonna say a whole lot today about good/bad chops...because mine for today stinks!
No...really...it was intentional to drive my point across... ![Razz](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif)

I will also contend that my post for the catfish was a piece of carp today too
I thought it was better but after looking at it more... yeah it sucks... whoops I updated it a bit, tried to make it better....
but you still wont see me crying about not getting votes for it.
I think my next few will make up for the Hickup though

I concur...I know that mine wasn't top notch or even my best work...but after a while, I get a little tired of not having anything entered...but, in my defense...the ones I have coming up are a lot better!

I loved the gif! Actually, you only got 2 more votes for the gif!
(And I voted for both pieces...not out of "friendly voting"...I just thought that both pieces were good!

my 2˘ ![Confused](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) Sean, what the f*** are you talking about? I never heard (i.e. read) anybody saying anything bad about your Fish - it was great, the idea, the humor, the execution (within the limitations). You put way more effort and thought in this contest than I did, I just chopped for an hour and something failry decent came out of it. The rest of the visual impact is textbook fake eyecandy - keep it simple, pop it out of the background, color correct to make fairly pleasant colors and throw in a soft shadow (there - some pointers for lpoetschke)
Now please - everybody - forget about the stupid fish already!
I shot myself in the foot, because I play my own little game of staying disadvantaged and posting late and seeing how far it gets me. The fish performed as expected (ask Granulated to confirm this)
The only good thing I hope comes out of this meaningless discussion would be if voters started taking some interest in the entries posted after the second default page.

thanks voks.. that made me feel a little better.
I do like the fact that you do say... I like the image, but I think it needs this or that....
as for posting late, I always try to save some votes for people such as yourself (the disadvantaged), and you should know that, cause I seem to always find it lol... I do however think if you want to win or do well it helps to enter within the first day of the contest... or at least very early 2nd day... otherwise whats the point?
but the last few days have been hell at work, and I was off yesterday... no excuse though
Cheers!
Sean

Thank you for this! That is a great point and what I strive for anyway.

Oh, and lpoetschke, NEVER be too intimidated to enter. You might not get many tips on what you've entered but you get zero tips on stuff you don't enter.
Good point! Thanks
I know that criticism is hard to take, but it needs to be offered in order for someone to learn and grow. I can't change how others react to criticism, but I for one understand the importance of it. I guess having the PM option would allow someone to open themselves up for criticism and give them the opportunity to respond on their own rather than having it slapped in their face unwillingly.
