The Young Ones
Once in every lifetime,
Comes a love like this,
Oh I need you, you need me,
Oh my darling can't you see.
Young Ones.
Darling we're the Young Ones.
Young Ones.
Shouldn't be afraid.
To live, love, there's a song to be sung.
Cause we may not
Be the Young Ones
very long.

I want to propose to use only 10 votes to give.
So everyone can give them only to real good works.
every contest i vote for 8 or little more really nice works. I try to give the rest of the votes to members that votes for me in previous contests (i think it is natural). The rules of the site are to give 25 votes. I try to everytime to do it.
If the rules will change, i will be the first one to follow them.

would this be a certain "Brazillian connection" thing ?
If so, then I independently noticed the same "patterns"

If someone has voted for you in a previous contest and you feel forced to vote for them regardless of the quality of the chop or the skill improvement of the choper, then I think you just encourage them to stay mediocre and put out no effort.

As I said before, for most contests, 12 votes would be enough.

instead of the rule of 10 submissions gets you the right to vote, change it a bit to a stricter level.
It's really not that hard to get the voting status, and some people abuse this, so once they got 10 images submitted (good or bad), they stop submitting and start voting for their friends. They can do so forever and ever.
- So, maybe a member should have an additional requirement to submit a certain amount of entries within a certain amount of time to keep his voting ability. (eg 5 images within last 3 months).
Offcourse this can affect longtime members who are well respected here due to their activity in the past but don't enter anymore these days. So you might want to add some 'loosening' rules too (eg advantage members do not get affected by this or in in less severe way, or members with atleast 200 submissions are not affected by this rule either)
my 0,02 euro's
ps numbers mentioned in this post are ment as a guideline to explain the intention of my thoughts, they should not be regarded as definitive values

Of course, if the work is very horrible i don't feel forced to give back a vote.

The number of votes will not always be the same as the amount of people that have placed a vote. At least, for a few minutes. Web sites like this on use caching mechanisms to keep things speedy. That is to say, the number of votes showing may be from 15 minutes ago and the number of members that placed votes may be from 5 seconds ago. You can add a ?nocache=1 (or &nocache=1 if there is already a ? in the url) if you need to see real time data.
