That BIG and FLASHY and OVER ANIMATED banner add at the top of all the pages?

I'm an Advantage payin' dude. I don't want no STEENKING BAHNERS!!

And, to make it somewhat worse:

Ones like the advert I've paradied above are selling PHOTOSHOP CHEATS! On a site that I understood to be about learning how to Actually CHOP a picture, not "press a button and get a pre-packaged result in 10 seconds" kinda thing.

Anyway, I'm sure the Ever Vigilant MODS (some of whom I love and respect mucho) will be obligated to remove this thread. But maybe not. I'm seriously questioning this. This OVER COMMERCIALIZATION of this site is one of the main reasons I don't like spending a lot of time here... and I've talked to many of the "old school" folks that no longer come here much (and there are quite a few of them) and this is their feelings too.

SO.

Talk amoungst yourselves. See if any of you (unlike me here) can come up with some new and interesting points on this topic.

I prefer to see only type commercial, but anyway...

I'm doing regularly skin transformation in advertising and I dont believe in doing great job in two or five minutes.
You know, it's like so many other dreams that people dream about... like having an athletic body without doing any effort & exercices & eating any kind of all you can eat sh*t, just by spending money on a miracle product.
But maybe with this software, the result is not too bad.
Maybe can be helpful for some people.

I guess I just am not so happy with the commercialization of Absolutely Everything. I'd make a crappy Repulican. But then again, being Canadian, I don't have to worry about that choice (at the moment).

But seriously... loose the banner ads. GoogleAds was bad enough, but I almost feel like I'm visiting a PRON site when I come here (or at least, that is what I've HEARD pron sites use - from my friends who have looked at them!

I'm in full agreement that EVERYTHING seems to be about getting some of my money. This is why I won't enter prize contests, even though I think they're kind of neat. For me it's about getting better. Once I did a vector that took five hours, and someone came at me with a mocking comment to the effect that I could've gotten the same result in five minutes with Illustrator, and was therefore wasting everyone's time, including my own.

The joke is, I was trying to improve my vector work.

Bah!

Still a good site, though.

I just entered the SHADOW contest because it was a PRIZE contest.

NOT because I wanted so desparately to convert my PSDs to FLASH files but because being a "prize" contest it was ANNONYMOUS. I really miss those annonymous contests now and again.

where are you seeing these banners? Even when I'm logged out, I don't see any.

I use HostMan and it prevents 99.9% of ad banners loading.
