Splodge, the bevel & emboss effect is perfect for type & simple geometrical shapes. Nice tutorial, but the guy forgot to talk about creating layers from the effect to bring more control & realism to any details.
I only used the emboss effect for the thin lines at the knees to create a design, but I didnt use any effect to create the metal. PS simple effects cant be use to create a good realistic job like I made on my chop. I dont know about 3D softwares, but I figure it can be possible to do something more realistic than what I made without so much effort.
