I use the magnetic lasso or the magic wand tool, does anyone knows how to achieve a cleaner cut quickly? The wand leaves pix and i clean up with the eraser. The lasso has a mind of its own and takes lots of time. Confused

Learn the pen tool(paths). It is the best way for everything,(except hair and stuff like that) If you want a clean job, forget about fast. Get good at the pen tool first, then it will be fast. Doing hair is a different beast. There are different methods for that. (trial and error) Sometimes hair is better to just cut off the edges and redraw them later. Wink but not with the smudge tool Evil or Very Mad

reyrey's been to hairdressing school and he still can't get it right. If you cut hair off, it usually grows back after a while. Razz

The pen tool is the cleanest but if you want something quick and the background is consistant you can duplicate the layer and use select/color range and select the background then invert it and cut from the original layer.

Quick Mask is always a good option too, particularly if you want to contral opacities (seeing though an insects wing for instance).

Pen Tool!!!

I use brush tool on layer mask & using alpha channel for the complex details like hair. With the brush tool, I constantly change the hardness to fit with the detail to close cut. I think it's the fastest way. Click + shift when I'm doing straight lines. I only use pen tool when there's enough perfect curves.
