hi all i am looking for some help with a vector drawing of a snooker table (just the top with balls) and some snooker balls (full set) to use in a web design but every time i go to do a vector i mess it up.

can someone point me in the right direction for creating vectors or has anyone got one to hand that i could use please.

I think Armogeden could probably help you with that, he seems to have that down pretty well.

How detailed is it gonna be?
This should be pretty simple.
If youre starting doing vectors you should use a reference photo.

dont forget to hold alt after curving lines to fix the next line to straight.

Also you are using a background image to make your vector but... oh no you cant sample the colour you want because that hideous wrong coloured vector is in the way (Don't delete it i have seen people do this and it makes my jaw drop on occaision the amount of time wasted... just change the fill on the vector to 0 and alter the colour... when you double click the vector thumbnail you will get an auto colour picker use that on the image to sample the average best colour.

When your done with the vectoring of the image you make want to shunt a copy of the origional picture to the top and change the opacity down to help you with shading and high lighting.

anyways, is this to learn how to do it, for general use or for a client?

PM me your questions and ill try to help as much as possible. if your looking for reference material to get started then i would definately try something simple first until you get the hang of it, then try out rashdog's. Very Happy
