I don't think wins means anything. Who is better. Someone with 500 entries and 50 wins or someone with 10 entries and 9 wins. I say 9 wins is batter than 50. As for votes, if you stay here long enough and have enough time to enter every day, you will get a lot of votes, Good work or not. I think win percentage is a better gauge. That and RPP. JMO
What does PSCORE stand for?

Taken from jmh's original topic on pscore:

Below is the inner workings of how it is done:

The Variables:

WP = Win Percentage
RPP = Rank Percentile Per Post
VPP = Votes Per Post
FAV = Floating Average Votes Per Post

The Formula:

PSCORE = WP + (RPP/2) + (3(VPP/FAV))

Wp and Rpp are very solid, however, the final piece is a bit problematic. It is based upon the premise of comparing your vpp to other people who registered around the same time as you, thus accounting for changes in voting over time, but for various reasons, it is not as reliable/accurate as another stat could be, so I hope we can revise that part someday.

I think PScore is a great variable, dont change it, it sums up the real "power" of a chopper on the long time term...

It wouldn't change the entire thing, just that one part so that it is more accurate and fair.

And janetdog, wow! I didn't notice that you were such an old member. Your winning entry with 8 votes is one of the very reasons that we added rpp and pscore as stats, as vpp's are very skewed by the changes over time.

All of those are important Rey, they all fit together to make the bigger picture, I think the most important thing here for me, is that we learn skills from each other, and become better at what we all like to do here, and that's to make all the other choppers here wonder "How the hell did he/she do that?" (Like that Eve? I added "she") Very Happy anyway, like I said, all those issues are important, I miss our personal stats that used to be posted on the home page, now you have to hunt for them, so I don't bother even looking for them anymore. Confused Also, congrats on your win today Rey Very Happy

Very good points. And for the average user from the last one or two years that would be accurate (except for the talent freaks like Stephen Wink ). However several "old" members had wins when there weren't very many members at all. So their win percentage could be skewed.

I guess it's best to look at the combo of WP, PSCore and Win total to get an idea of the site's creme de la creme.

Thanks ReyRey, I didn't realize you cared! Laughing Razz

Seriously though, I don't really know which would be my favorite as I've never been on the monthly leader board that I know of (due to not chopping enough in one months time I suppose). However I do like looking at the VPP - it's kinda interesting.

Win percentage as long as you have a good amount of entries.

depends...

The score anonymous ppl give to ya are really not worth much as you cant discrimintate between a person who generally dilikes your work for a goood reason on a person who is being an asshat

Voting is pretty biased aswell and there have been many examples of people saying this deserved more and why did that get so many etc...

Anonymous contests are good aslong as you dont know who enters...

Noody goes on msn, aim yahoo etc basically says anything outside of psc t indicate which on is thiers

In the monthly stats VPP is the one i look at to see the leaders.
in personal stats probably PSCORE.

It's funny, I used to compete against ED 209. I don't know what happened to his portfolio but, His stuff was always on the front page. Out of 50 or 60 winning pictures, I only voted for him twice. I was so jealous. Seemed like no matter what I did or how fast I could get it posted(we all started at the same time and the contest was over the next day) he always came in a little sooner, a little funnier, and with a little better idea. I even went out and bought a tablet because I thought it would help. (wish I still had it)

He voted for my picture the day I won...
