As some of you may know, I started keeping track of the wins at PSC in Jan 2004 (THREE whole years ago now!) originally just for personal interest, but it has become something of a mini-project so although I've not been around for a while, now that the last contest of 2006 has closed, I thought I'd return to post the figures for the "best of" entries of the past year *. (And it took me ages to go through all the contests I've missed, but there's been some great stuff! Congrats to all the continuing PSC 'veterans', and to the new rising stars too!)
So, ladeez and gennulmen, the winners are:
MOST WINS
1st - marcoballistic = 37 (10.14% of 2006 contests(!) and his last win of 2006 put him on a hat-trick. First time I've seen 3 consecutive wins for a long time!)
2nd - anfa = 29 (7.95% of 2006 contests)
3rd - ReyRey = 28 (7.65% of 2006 contests)
MOST VOTES
1st - Hunger for Lazy Beast by billtvshow = 95
=2nd - Unspoken Secrets... for Money Trunk by mightybeet = 85
=2nd - 78 RPM for Off Track Betting by Vlad = 85
4th - Soft or Hard? for Smokes by jasper = 84
FEWEST VOTES (for a win in a contest)
1st - Playa Bait for Big Catch by ReyRey = 31
2nd - Future Kite... for Infrared Thermometer by marcoballistic = 33
3rd - Master of Hiding for Mushroom by Carcarlo = 34
HIGHEST % OF VOTES (in a contest)
1st - Open for Luxury Bar by Eepi = 9.57%
2nd - Aphrodite for Two Kisses by ScionShade = 9.52%
3rd - Genesis Project for Thirsty? by Meaty = 9.24%
LOWEST % OF VOTES (for a win in a contest)
1st - Master of Hiding for Mushroom by Carcarlo = 3.63%
2nd - Katrina's Rose for Clover by ReyRey = 4.12%
3rd - Primate Paratrooper for Breaking Clouds by Relic Oboogie = 4.27%
MOST ENTRIES (in a contest)
1st - Doll Head = 109
2nd - Clover = 107
3rd - Beach Toes = 103
FEWEST ENTRIES (in a contest)
1st - Piglets = 24
=2nd - Chrome Corner = 28
=2nd - CD Wall = 28
4th - Crosshatch = 29
MOST VOTES CAST (in a contest)
1st - Clover = 1,894
2nd - Beach Toes = 1,713
3rd - Gordonk = 1,682
FEWEST VOTES CAST (in a contest)
1st - Luxury Bar = 470
2nd - Hanging Hats = 485
3rd - CD Wall = 514
There are a few stats I don't know, but jmh might be willing/able to give out, for example:
Most votes given by a PSCer in 2006: ???
Most votes gained by a PSCer in 2006: ???
Also, it would be interesting to know what sort of traffic the site had through the year...
Ok, that's all. Hope you all have a great 2007 and keep having fun at this crazy place we call...
PSC!
For those wanting to see last year's stats, check out the PSC Awards 2005 page that's still mouldering away in the archives! PSC Awards 2004 seems to have died (probably in one of the several forum restores/revamps we've had since then) but I still have the figures if anyone cares...
*= Obviously, any stats here are not as authoritative as those from jmh himself (some contest winners may occasionally later be ruled NOT to have won for various reasons, for example). I tried to adjust for those kind of changes, but there may be some errors/omissions, so don't yell at me if you spot a mistake
Also, these figures are "unofficial" and not intended to indicate preference or to elevate any of the entries or members listed here above any others in any way as regards quality or effort. They are purely a reflection of the categories listed, during the previous year.

Well he's on course for a possible 4-fer, and I don't think that's been achieved before - at least not in my time here!
And even though a hat-trick has been done before, it's been a while so there's only a select few (maybe two or three) PSCers who've ever achieved it. And of course this site has a lot more users posting than it did 3 or more years ago, so the competition is greater (at least in theory!)

Actually I'm not looking down at the floor - as you can see in that avatar I'm looking straight over my glasses at YOU with what I must admit now looks a somewhat condescending expression... lol
As for not being one to "pop in and chop" anymore - I think showcase summed it up in another thread somewhere when he said he wasn't really driven by the desire to play around with PS, develop techniques, and compete as such, he preferred just to lurk and chat haha (Paraphrasing there as I can't find the thread I read that in now - hope I didn't get things out of context!)
I'll post an entry now and then when I get the desire and the time to put something together, but the main thing is I'm back... Back... BACKKKK (etc) and supporting the site again.
Besides, it's easy to knock up a stats spreadsheet - no real skill needed for that
*ducks outta here to avoid the anger of statisticians and accountants*

Heh. I'll let you all squabble amongst yourselves to work that one out, since I wasn't around to have the privilege of being the subject of such whoring last year...
