Hmmm... cool discussion. Here's my current list:
Elliott Smith - any and all I can find - love the man (emo punk)
Jimmy Reed - the Essential Boss man, disc 1 (mississippi blues from the 50s)
Fleetwood Mac - a live 2 TAPE set I got about 15 years ago
Michael Frante - Yell Fire (politically poiniant regae-inspired rock)
Gene Clark - a 2-disc set whose title escapes me at the moment (from the early Byrds)
Feu Follette - Tou ton bon soir (Cajun music - I probably spelled everything about them wrong)
Aberfeldy (Scottish band with Glockenschpiels)
Franz Ferdinand
Aimee Mann
Sufjan Stevens
Rodney Crowell
and when i'm feeling a trip down memory lane comin' on, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, REM, the Breeders, Belly, Throwing Muses, Siouxsie, Jane Siberry, David Sylvian, Everything but the Girl.......
Today's soundtrack was the soundtrack from "I am Sam." I love the Grandaddy cover of Revolution.

Paul, I spent 30 bucks on a Jeff Buckley CD/DVD combo on a recommendation from a bunch of people who have similar tastes to mine and the ONLY song I liked was his version of Tom Waits "Hallelujah," which I love. I think there's no middle ground with JB... you either adore him or think he's shite!

He would have been a major artist if he had lived any longer...he was young and prodigious singer (and im not a fan of this kinda music,i appreciated the singer), what he would have created 10 years later we will never know.

Yeah, you're probably right, Paul. He was an incredibly talented singer. I guess I kind of was disappointed that he was basically a cover artist with a label. I'm biased towards the songwriters, y'know? But you're right - 10 years later he might have been something truly amazing and it's a shame we won't know what he might have become.

Yeah, I REALLY like Aimee Mann's work Especially what she did on the "Magnolia" Soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtYmoY4aGko Elliot Smith was good too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVGiwR2o0u8 Did they ever figure out whether his death was a homicide or not?

I saw Aimee Mann open for Wang Chung a number of years ago, Aimee only had her first "Til Tuesday" album out, so she didn't have much material to work with, "Voices Carry" was her hit at the time

I was never a big Wang Chung fan, but they put on a pretty good show, considering I only went to see Aimee Mann.

Yeah, always liked that soundtrack (and of course an excellent film ). Wang Chung were good until that abomination of a song, Everybody Have Fun Tonight...peww Shit just went down the tubes from there. Their " Points On The Curve" album I still reeeallly like.Got it on vinyl. I like listening to certain albums in that form. ...nostalgia I guess
