Marx (sorry, but I HAVE to jump in here), you fail to recognize that most logos are already in existance before the website. Furthermore, logo design helps to solidify the company's image. It's a concise representation of the company and can be a great tool for the web designer.

You might be an extraordinary designer, but you don't get accounts by insulting the customer. Just chop a logo!

based off your comment I bet you get alot of customers. Well said imo. I think the logo is a company brand that I would think would make it that much easier for a web designer to design a site based off seeing the logo. You see all the mood in it plus the colors and I would think it would direct you on how to present the business in a web page.
