You should package that into a reflections tutorial and get Proc to post it in the tutorials section. Very Happy

no i won't, i like it like that. I used to work with a 4X5 inches Sinar camera in the past and i've come to think that vertical straight lines are not natural. I even worked for architects who didn't want me to correct perspectives because they wanted to have a real view of their building .

ok, i was totally wrong... Here is the test i did: i used a perfectly horizontal mirror to figure the water and took the picture with the camera looking at the sky. The result speaks by itself. I hope that this "mini-tut" can help Smile

I think it's a great image and if ya change it you'll ruin it.
If all anyone ever wanted from image manip was to
make images look like they came straight from the camera, then why have image manip?

Well, that is something I didn't know. I can now add it to the things I know. (Soon, soon, I'll have enough to put in a teacup! Smile )

That is so logical once I see it "laid out" like Volk did - and yet the original image from Der Bagel looks just fine to me too.

At least now we can make a conscious design choice when we play with reflections! (and thus avoid random Home Computer Design Crimes of Ignorance!)

Thanks for the time you put into these examples, peeps! Very Happy

I don't see why this whole thread is an argument about the perspective. I'm interested in the tutorial. Which one did you use?

mason, please read the original post - aliased displacement water tutorial is really good

Which means: PSC - Tutorials - Displacement Water (by aliased)
To make it easier click here.

I commented on the perspective issues (since fixed) because I think it is a common mistake that needed to be discussed. I didn't argue about anything else, because the water looks very good. Hope this clears things a bit.
