ok ok why did no one tell me true vector art (without doing it with filters) is so damn hard and long and labour intensive.

doing one for later this month and omg am i getting cross eyed looking t the picture.

if i was't so far into it i might give it up as a bad idea.

when it is released i would appriciate any and all comments

this is of course if i ever finish the B*****Y thing

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad vector is evil Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Seriously, who does vectors by hand ?
There are gazillions of plug-ins to do vector work, ether you got tons of time or you're just to passionate about vectors.

1) all of them are rubbish. no exceptions.

2) i have a graphics tablet, it's sooo much easier. dont even attempt a vector untill you got one. (cut down the time to make them by about 4x at least)

3) a vector package like illustrator makes it a lot faster (but it has a difficult to learn interface because its so different to photoshop's)

4) you want something done well do it yourself Very Happy

Are we allowed to use vector elements from Illustrator into Photoshop for our contest entries? I did not know we could. I've been doing all within Photoshop.

It's mastering the pen tool that you really get out of vectors and vectors are resolution independent so you don't lose any quality in the Illustrator file. Cool

hmm well i know i shouldn't be saying this as its technically cheating but however... its not as the result is vecotr anyway and it will help take the edge off tracing...

Use the magnetic lasso tool...

Goto paths once you have your selection...

Make work path from selection.

Making sure the work path layer is not selected.

Layers > New fill layer. Pick your colour and hit ok

go back to your layers pallette and you'll have a spanking new vector layer that is roughly to your selection "based on your setting of course"

found it to be a life saver especially considering It opens the magic wand option to making a vector... which means you can make a tolerance for each area.

Make sure you stick that to an action called vectorise selection if you intend to use it often...

Make a selection

Hit record...
Make new work path
Layers > New fill layer
Stop recording.

Assign to f2 or somik... i have used it once or twice but i reckon that will save you alot of time.

if you really want to be cheap it is possible to make an action to vectorise an area to an average colour which is godd when turning images into vector... but enough of me suggesting how to cheat. Smile
