Anyone heard of "Adesso" tablets?

I ask because I can get an 6x4 Adesso for the price I'd pay on a 4x5 Wacom Graphire4. Heck the 8x6 Adesso is not much more than the 4x5 Wacom.

So I guess I have a couple questions

1. Have any of you heard of, or used, an Adesso?
2. Is an Adesso tablet good for non-professional use (vs. a Wacom)?
3. Are Adesso tablets similar in function to a Wacom?
4. Is more working area good thing to have when it comes to a non-pro?

Yeah I can Google reviews but I want to hear from those that I trust first.

only thing i know about Adesso is that they use a battery in the pen, unlike the Wacoms (one of the reason of the price difference).

All the reviews I've seen seem to be mixed. Editors are okay with the Adesso but users aren't.

CNet and ZDNet give a 7 while the user rating is a 3.8.

Epinions doesn't have a review other than a touchpad.

Seems nobody here has heard of them.

Guess I'll play it safe and aim for the smaller Wacom.

I did see that tablet in my search for one, but I ended up buying this one http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16823102006 (Genius pink one), it works great, but it is girly, haha. The site I purchased it from was cheaper than other sites I looked at (even amazon), just for the record.

I had a chance to get a Wacom Graphire4 for around $55 (brand new). That was yesterday. Today they're back up to $81.

I had one day that I was out "looking for toys" aka....nothing else to do and picked the brain of a salesperson at COMPUSA and that was the biggest thing he mentioned about....pressure sensitivity. He said you can get one at a good price but the pressure sensitivity isn't real good so it would be rough doing silo's etc. That's why I've been holding out. I'm waiting for the better pressure ones to come down rather than end up like Wes with it in the dust bin. Even the guy told me that. He said if you have a good one you will use it all the time but with the less expensive ones and using it in PS you will probably go back to the mouse.

Ditto. It's fantastic, and ya dont have to keep turning to the keyboard and mouse to perform shortcut functions.
Anyone frustrated with it, or thinking it's less than than absolute joy just hasnt set their pressure sensitivity properly.

Yeah...or maby they just have a screw loose.
