The 6th line tells that the guy trying to acces my computer is named Fa10-3 under a nick ARC-RJ (Rio de Janeiro I guess) and is from .br which means Brazil?

Am I right?

Can anyone explain this please, I am not a geek and the only DOS command I've learned is tracert, but never knew how to read the information displayed back..

I clearly was asking how to read the result of a tracert command. I did not mention any names. All I did was asking how to interpret the command.

Since last week my firewall alerts have more than quadrupled, which was very annoying. I know that anyone can call himself Fa-10 and get a nick like arc. That is why I did not accuse anyone.

That is simply the sixth server your internet request has been through. Tracert is short for traceroute. It shows the ip addresses and time it takes for internet requests to reach the server the website is located on.

J-dog speaks the truth. Your results are showing the route that your Internet request is going through. You're hitting those computers not the other way around.

Some light reading for you:

The tracert command is used to visually see a network packet being sent and received and the amount of hops required for that packet to get to its destination.

So tracert shows the packets sent and received. What I did is tracert an IP address that was shown by my firewall, it said: the following address was trying to access your computer.

when you type www.google.com in a browser, you request google page, and therefore, google page reachs your computer... doesn't mean google is trying to access your computer... you requested it...

what arc says, you send a request, you recive an answer, like a PING echo, if you think you have an invation check your firewall log, run crapCleaner, then run HiJackThis, save a log from HiJackThis, post it on bleepingcomputers.com and let someone smart sort it out for you.

Request packets are sent from your computer and reply packets are received by your computer. Trace route is showing how your Internet traffic is being routed.

If you want to attempt to find out who is "hitting" your computer then take the IP address from your firewall log and do an IP lookup. Even then that won't tell you everything.

No. Amazingly, it's part of the route which you had just traced !

Can anyone explain this please, I am not a geek and the only DOS command I've learned is tracert, but never knew how to read the information displayed back..

Why were you doing a trace route in that IP ?

Nope, my firewall kept showing numerous consecutive alerts last night. I took the IP addresses and did a tracert. When I read the 6 th line of one of those tracert commands, I noticed that someone in Brazil requested something from my computer. The similarity were confusing and I wanted to gather more information before any action. I know now much more. I spoke with an internet security teacher who is a friend of mine and he is doing some research on the subject.

Thanks all for helping.
