Average age goes up with this report.
Patre is 64. So 807+15 + 64 = 886/27 = 32.81 = average age.
Average age= ages added together divided by the total number of ages.
Median age = age that is exactly half way between 15 and 64.
Something like 39.5
I hope that I am not so old that my memory fails me, but there
you have it.. Very Happy

That's close but not quite it.
To get the median you have to list all the ages from lowest to highest. The median is the age that falls in the middle.

for instance..

4, 5, 12, 65, 66, 67, 68.

the median age is 65 because there are 3 ages higher and 3 ages lower.

if there were an even number of ages, you'd take the two ages that fall in the middle and average those to get your median.

tomorrow I'll be teaching standard deviations...

Isn't "standard deviation" the same as "Military Intelligence", as in the words don't make sense together? Raising Brow

I never went to no highschool, but who needs school to figure this out.
The mean PSC age is old enough to know better, but young enough
to do it anyway.

Thanks, Badcop, for the correct info on how to calculate the median number in a sequence of numbers. Another senior moment for me-
I was confused trying to find the middle number between 15 and 64
instead of looking for the middle number in the sequence of numbers..
I was several standard deviations away from calculating the correct
median number in the sequence of numbers..So much for the wisdom
of the aged... Very Happy
