a year or so back, he showed off an illustration of a car- which looked like a picture, amazing!!- I still tell people about that one.

Mikey,
You are one of the best vector illustrators I have seen. How did you learn to master it so well?

Thanks Jim, many many hours of practice and study. and some schooling too. I still have much to learn. that Camaro is done with the gradient mesh, pen and pencil tools, normal gradient, stroke, blend and make feature, symbol for license plate, unlinked and expanded. you must name the layers in Illustrator because there are so many! also transparency adjustments, the pathfinder is key for masking and deleting unwanted parts. it's different than photoshop. keyboard shortcuts are very helpful too, for example; with direct selection arrow hold down Ctrl and Shift click on path to deselect. to copy; Ctrl + C to copy, + B to paste. or + F to paste in front" to move layers back; Ctrl + [ to move forward; Ctrl + ] just a few tips for Illustrator. also locking layers can save you some frustration of selecting layers you don't want to.
