Oh God I hate Illustrator!


anybody know how can I put that blue/green circle in to the yellow one and get rid of that extra blue circle thats going outside the yellow one?

now when I'm reading this sentence, I don't understand what I'm saying, but I hope someone will

Place the blue circle behind the yellow one
Select both, right-click, Object - Clipping Mask - Make

this clips the blue circle, but makes the yellow one transparent

Select the formerly-yellow-now-transparent circle with the Direct Selection Tool (white arrow) and fill it with yellow again

I cant get gradient look like this example has because neither linear neither radial gradient allows me to put whiter gradient in the left corner

I got it finally! I added a now stroke in appearance palette

you can make a large yellow-to-white gradient circle and clip it with a smaller one

alternately (as there are so many ways to skin a cat) you can Create a Gradient Mesh, e.g. 3x3, select the the node only where the highlight goes and color it white. While this achieves the desired gradient effect, the outline is gone. You need to go to the Appearance palette and add a new stroke.



Oddly enough the effect you're looking for is easily achieved in CorelDraw, where you can place the center of a radial gradient fill wherever you want

Oh, and the simplest solution (DUHHHH)

- Apply the white-to-yellow gradient to your circle (by default the white area is in the center)
- With the circle still selected, get the gradient tool from the Tool Palette, click at the highlight location, hold, drag and release the mouse
