In your opinion, does this qualify as a chop?
If you voted for it, did you question yourself first?

Just want to see peoples ideas of what a chop is.
I'm still going to do what I want Razz

Yes!

You crafted the source as a reference, which in my opinion is a chop.

Well done!

Yes, it would be a great technique Very Happy ....if the voting wasn't over already. Crying or Very sad Laughing Laughing
I am not trying to take away anything from Govan's win. That image won, fair and square. It was a great chop. I am just stirring up some friendly (I hope) debate.
If anyone thinks this thread is harmful, please let me know and I won't pull it. Razz

I
no-source

A significant part of my entries are no-source, including a Flintstones winning entry from over a year ago. Rey's is so much better and more professional looking than my cut & paste approach.

to me recreating something to look like the source is even more challenging than actually using it. I thought the whole idea and creativity of it was excellent Wink

I like it very much. I almost voted but did not because I remember one of my earlier entries was questioned about this.

I actually made a chop for the solar entrance but decided not to enter because of this issue again. But now that I heard some opinion, it's now clear to me.

Yes its a chop. You took just as much of the original as a lot of others and made a new image with it. The fact that you made it into a cartoon does not make it any less.

Who knows, maybe we will have a cartoon image in the voting queue one day, for us to work with. Somebody would be able to make a good basic image, what?

Rey, shut up Laughing

this is obviously a chop... it would never have existed as it does without the source image, and there for you have broken no rules.

Anyone who says you have is a muppet (looks round for cyber moron Julie nutjob... oh thats right she was fired out of a cannon in a democratic manner for being a plum)

Anyways, I was amazed this did not win, and I can only assume it is another case of page one syndrome. (the views and votes for page one entries constantly exceed any other page, no matter if pre posted or not, and this can only be down to either llaziness, or a great deal of non member guest cruising the first page only). Govan did great, well done for that no doubt, but look at the stats, and it happens all th time in anonymous comps about 10 times worse than open ones.

Which if true would be interesting to see if this is the case with the new non prize anon comp, as it should not be, we shall see.

Ok sorry about rant oof tangent insanity, but I was due one really the time I have had lately Razz

carry on Smile

We had this:
http://photoshopcontest.com/photoshop-contest/2279/crayon-lighthouse.html
It was a fun chop Smile

And regarding ReyRey's chop; I liked it so I voted. And I belive that is the important thing. I don't mind many diffrent expressions used on a source. As long as I can see a reference to the source. In this drawing I did.

I'm sure that Gino Gludice won't mind you plagerizing his Flintstone background style. To in the end achieve your translation of the original into Yabadaba-do-dom! Shocked Laughing Laughing
Actually innovative and aggressive path to proceed down. I give it 5 *****'s
