if you need 3ds max go for a pc as it doesn't exist on mac.
Otherwise mac is fantastic, but it seems you can now use OSx seemlessly on PCs so I dont know.
maybe you wanna get a powerfull pc with a ood screen and os x leopard

I just bought my macbook pro and couldn't be happier with it. Mainly because I can run both Windows and OSX at the same time. If you can afford the mac then I say go for it. In comparison to my previous PC's, it outshines them in many ways. Just my opinion. Both machines will perform well, it's really a matter of preference.

After 10 years PC, I switched to an iMac (20" with additional 20" side monitor) about a year and a half ago. About 2 months ago I updated my PC laptop to a powerBook Pro.

On both I use Parallels, software that lets me run Windoze as if it was an extra application. It also allows almost any OS (yes, even LINUX, mr. Case!) to run on your Mac. This is no horseshite: my XP service pack II runs better on my iMac than it ever did on my souped up PC! Shocked At first I was going over to the XP side a lot, but now I use it very little as I've found "MAC" replacements for the software I used to love.

SO - the MAC will be a bit more cashola, but the experience is TOTALLY worth every penny. Very very very few people have wished they hadn't gone to MAC.

(final note: the file that comes out of Mac or PC will be virtually the same - it is the way you GET TO THAT FILE that is almost fundamentally different. And in an artistic situation, the ride can certainly influence the destination! Wink)

If you don't have the $$ on hand for a mac you can always build a hack-intosh. Twisted Evil (I do not encourage pirate-like behaviour I just am giving information)
