Anyone have some advice on shadows? I totally choked when trying to make the shadows correctly. I can't seem to grasp them well enough

By the way. The child warrior in my image was my daughter.
I was sooo busy at work I had no time to even think of anything, so at the last minute I asked my daughter to pose for a couple pictures and make a mean face. I knew it would not be an original idea but I figured if I made it dramatic enough it would make up for the lack of creativity. My friend said "Your daughter will be so happy when she sees the image. I said, "no she won't. she will be mad because I did not give her a crown." When I finished the image and posted it, I showed it to my daughter. She said, "How come you did not give me a crown?" Now I have to do another version now with a crown.

the BX / Splodge contest was very hard to decide.....the Waspital was funny as hell, but the BX chop had so much depth....it was one of the hardest to vote on. I would have swore the creators were reversed. Nice job on both entries for sure.

The shadows are one of the reasons i voted for SCREWLOOSE....apart from a couple of them being a little off....it was still a nice chop. I don't know that this will help Cherylm, but when doing shadows like the one's in the chop....I think about a Sun Dial. If you had 6 sundials all in a circle like the people....they would all still point to the same point on the dial. Roughly anyways.
