You go making that most fav'd gallery the main gallery, and we'll have the buddie system totally wrecking it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please don't go there.

True. Re-union comps trashed it. I don't want to see the fav one trashed because right now it's an EXCELLENT gallery.
I'd be totally happy to have the current fav gallery locked and dated.

I agree, but I'm not sure about locking the gallery. I have fav'd entries from before my time here (including yours).

Percentage of votes cast might be a good measurement. You'd see those reunion chops drop down into the middle of the pack.

Fwiw.

But then you'd have to decide how to take the percentage.
Entries?
Registered Users?

Because i know i've voted for entries i haven't been in.

hmm this is tricky

I mean the vote ratio for the contest in which the entry appears. For example, if there are 550 total votes in a contest and you receive 42 votes, your vote ratio is .0763, or 7.63 percent of the total votes cast. Pretty easy, I think.

That's why I wish it could be locked. Right now it represents images people loved. How long till the popularity contest takes it over to save certain egos. I notice the strongest egos, and several of the most popular choppers aren't even represented till way back in the pack. At least give us an archived record/snapshot of the fav gallery before that happens.

That breaks down real fast when you ad in low vote contests, and horrible contests with only one decent entry that really isn't that decent. I think vote ratio means nothing at all except in teh few contests with many excellent chops...basically only reunion.

True scion...but then in the reunion or other big contests people get screwed with the 25 vote limit.

I guess this goes to show you cant really pick the best chop or narrow down the best.
Everyones going to look at pieces differently and like different ones.
Just my 2 cents

I HOPE its the total votes otherwise I am deep shit.

A lot of choppers did great work before the "favs" option was instituted so much work that very well may be worthy of being faved never had the opportunity. Of course, entries that were voted on before the vote totals were upped to 25 can't compete with the later vote totals so that's not an accurate rating either. Hell, nothing's going to make it fair so what the hell. Confused

The fav gallery is not intended to be an 'ooh this one is better then this one' representation. Merely a 'people liked this, so you might want to check it out too'. *edit: Also note that favorites is intended as helpfull feature to find images back you liked in the past (aka bookmarks), and not as a scoring feature

So, being first in there does not indicate the image is better then the last one, let alone indicate the skills of the creator.

The votes representation is more suitable to indicate those, although flawed in many other aspects. So not to be taking too seriously too.

Yeah, maybe there is no good way to do rank everything. Just for grins, however, I took the first page of the "Most Votes" gallery and calculated the ratios. The numeric values are votes received and percentage of total votes. The results are interesting:

ScionShade "Venus" 110 8.8%
thbeghin "Moving In" 103 7.85%
metalic [untitled] 108 7.64%
deshone [untitled] 101 7.5%
j-elzic [untitled] 96 6.55%
buglover "Last Yeti" 130 4.84%
Claf "Upside Down Pot" 133 4.57%
Claf "The Return of the Apes" 116 4.32%
ReyRey "Desire" 123 4.22%
Tawiskaro "Last Supper" 112 4.17%
supak0ma "Tarantula" 111 4.14%
thbeghin "gravity" 97 3.86%
anfa "Test Pilot" 112 3.85%
AustrianBB2 "Scythe Creature" 101 3.76%
arcaico "Rocketeer" 102 3.5%
Marcoballistic "Eat this Sucka!..." 97 3.33%
