Okay Gran, that is one way to do it. I'd add to it but saying that, after making the QUICK MASK selection, you us a LAYER MASK to "extract" the image. That way you can take away or add back in image data (you don't ever use the REAL "eraser" tool.

I'll see if I can whip up a fast CHOOT to supliment YOUR CHOOT.

Okay - it is a SUPER Quicky tut, but it adds a bit to what Granulated was sharing in his "choot".

The main thing I want to stress is DON'T EVER USE THE ERASER TOOL EVER AGAIN EVER!!!

KEY SHORTCUTS:

"Q" - enter and exit QuickMask mode
"D" - sets background and foreground colours to default B&W
"X" - flips foreground and background colours back and forth.
Shift+ALT+Double Click on BACKGROUND LAYER = free layer

Layer Masking - that is the way into the 1990's, kids!!!

(as I've said elsewhere on this site, there is not just ONE WAY you should learn to extract stuff in PhotoSlop... my favorites are the PEN TOOL, The EXTRACT "filter", and the method I've shown above. In many cases, an image may require more than one method to get everything you want extracted! )
