the pen tool is the BEST. You can erase all you want but master the pen tool and you can make selections in minutes WITHOUT erasing.

(haha...I just knew Reindude would be all over this about extract....) Wink

ReinMan's Super Quicky 3.5 minute TUT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HN_4YF-8pY

(note: some of my words may not make a lot of sense, but you'll get the gist of what I want to show you!)

Okay - it is a SUPER Quicky tut, but it adds a bit to what Granulated was sharing in his "choot". Very Happy

The main thing I want to stress is DON'T EVER USE THE ERASER TOOL EVER AGAIN EVER!!! Shocked

Unless you want to. Razz

KEY SHORTCUTS:

"Q" - enter and exit QuickMask mode
"D" - sets background and foreground colours to default B&W
"X" - flips foreground and background colours back and forth.
Shift+ALT+Double Click on BACKGROUND LAYER = free layer

Layer Masking - that is the way into the 1990's, kids!!! thumright

(as I've said elsewhere on this site, there is not just ONE WAY you should learn to extract stuff in PhotoSlop... my favorites are the PEN TOOL, The EXTRACT "filter", and the method I've shown above. In many cases, an image may require more than one method to get everything you want extracted! Very Happy )

Yah thumleft
