I'm debating between a Cintiq or getting a Tablet PC.
I was curious if anyone knows of a tablet PC that has the same quality pressure sensitivity as the Cintiq has?

I looked around, and the best one I found was the HP tablet (i think it's the tx2 or something similar) and it didn't even mention anything about pressure sensitivity. Let alone 2,048 points of it!

I've been researching it and it looks like no Tablet PC has more than 512 pressure sensitivity...and to get that, you need Wacom Digitizers (Penabled) in the PC (most come with this now though). Then you need to install the Wacom Drivers (free on their website).

I went to the local BestBuy here and tried out the HP TX2. It was hard to judge, because it didn't have Photoshop installed or have the optimal settings.

I was able to open MS Paint though and mess around with it. The motion was fluid and it picked up my pen strokes really well, but I wasn't able to get a good indication of the pressure levels.

I've found good reviews on the Axiotron, but I'm not a Mac user, so not sure about buying it.

The differences between the two.

The more advanced intuos 4 costs £200 more than the other.

Something that will allow me to draw on the actual surface of the screen.

From the tablet thread i started a while back, and the info we got from that, I would go with the cintiq, just because of how much more "active" it is (sensitivity, screen size, etc.) compared to a tablet pc, which wouldn't give near as much response. And about the mac one, i wouldn't go with it unless you're a mac user cuz i've heard it takes a long time to get used to ALL the differences.

The only reason I want to get a Tablet PC is because it is portable. As of now, the Cintiqs are all required to be plugged in to an outlet and a computer. I would rather be able to go wherever, the coffee shop, the park, etc...and still be able to draw.

I thought about getting a small laptop and a Cintiq 12WX and having them work together, so I could draw out on the road, but there is still the outlet issue for the Cintiq to plug in.

Otherwise, yeah, I would definitely go with the Cintiq.



Thanks for the advise. Yeah, I'll stay away from that one. Mac Fanboys have turned me off to ever wanting to get anything Apple related. I cringed when I forked over the money to buy my IPod.
