Guitar legend Les Paul dies!
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Les Paul, who invented the solid-body electric guitar later wielded by a legion of rock 'n' roll greats, died today of complications from pneumonia. He was 94.
As an inventor, Paul also helped bring about the rise of rock 'n' roll with multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the tracks in the finished recording.
The use of electric guitar gained popularity in the mid-to-late 1940s, and then exploded with the advent of rock in the mid-'50s.

Very sad. He will be missed. Les, amoung many others, played a role in my life regarding my joy of music. I have owned several Les Paul guitars and each had their own warm and individual sound. Les Paul's music is great and you will not be sorry if you seek out some of his songs. I had the privalge as a yougster to hear his music on vinyl, yes vinyl. (Someone else can start a thread to explain to the young ones what vinyl is. lol)
Rest in peace Mr Paul.

R.I.P. Les Paul... a true innovator and invent-o-nator
I will respectfully get my Les Paul out tonight for the first time in months and respectfully not try to play a single note.

I just spent the last 20 minutes going over all four pages of this thread. Thank Goodness I did not see my name in it anywhere.
