As our resident Moose Mod is piggin'out on purloined halloween treats I must point out that is a poor attempt at spam. I must also say that I am becoming increasingly bored by this lack of imagination in presenting spam.

It's Dashiell Hammett and he wrote the Maltese Falcon ( So you do know him ) and created Sam Spade The thin man. The author that Commando Al was reffering too was probably Daymon Runyon who's characters always were "Runyonesque" such as a Horse Player Named Regret and almost always wrote about gangsters, gamblers molls, etc.

You type faster than me old man and you are of course correct re Sam Spade but Daymon Runyon spun humorous tales of gamblers, hustlers, actors, and gangsters, few of whom go by "square" names, preferring instead colorful monikers such as "Nathan Detroit," "Big Jule," "Harry the Horse," "Good Time Charley," "Dave the Dude," or "The Seldom Seen Kid." Runyon wrote these stories in a distinctive vernacular style: a mixture of formal speech and colorful slang, almost always in present tense, and always devoid of contractions.

We should be charging these young'uns for this.
