These are basically how I do hair.
I always use and image to start with so I am creating something I like instead of just random strands. sometimes I will frankenstien different chunks of hair until I get the shape and style I want then I create over it using it as a template.
Very important for realism. Set the brush so it skips a bit. If you look at hair under a microscope it has lot's of texture that catch the light. If you just do solid straight lines it will look fake.
If I get time I will make my own tut but this is how I learned from reading these things and from actually painting hair with actual paints. Tedious but worth it.

Yep! I thought it sucked too! But I was able to tweak it a little to do the hair for my daughter's school photo. She wanted a little more fullness and length hanging down over her left shoulder. I thought it turned out good. Well aside from looking like an oompa loompa on most monitors and prints.

Original first and then my retouched version. I tried to keep Rey's previous tip of doing as little as possible to keep it real looking.

I know a LOT of people, some of them MEN, who are paying OTHER people LOTS of MONEY so that they can have LESS HAIR on their bods.

In MY case, it doesn't really matter too much as God is taking my hair away for FREE; no money spent, no photoshop abuse.

That first tut was great! Very thorough and helpful. That last one... not so much, but whatever. I understand hair having practiced with graphite, watercolor and airbrush, so I got more out of the explanation of brushes in the first one. Still pretty sure the second one is a photo or just horribly explained. Thanks a lot in any event!
