Now i dont like Spam anymore than the rest of us here at PSC and we have all got used to realising which is spam and which isn't.
And here at PSC i guess we want to encourage new members to join and to participate in the comps etc.
My point though is that i'm not sure that new members to the site will be that impressed with some of the comments that get left in the forums.
What they see is a new member saying hello and introducing them selves and us members telling them to "F...Off" "Sod Off" and various other comments.
And to be honest if that was me i wouldn't think this was a very friendly site at all and just leave.
So perhaps we should tone down some of the comments we leave in the forums

Hmmm... though I hate to admit it, specially as I'm a member of the Spam Taunting Club in good standing... but Sonic does have a point.
Usually, if people here just give RUDE and UNIMAGINATIVE taunts to the SPAM, I just delete the whole thread. More "creative" Spam taunting (taunting that shows good wit and is low in the F*cks n' Sods) I usually let go for a row or two.
But you are right, Sonic, new members don't realize we're talking to a tin can full of questionable pig and sheep parts.
What to do?

If you look carefully, I won almost all of them in 2006.
Since then, I'm on a 1 post a year pace.
It's not about years, it's about entries.

some of us dont even know what that is like.. but then again no more than I chop how can i expect to compete..
on the spam.. i usually rty to make whitty and funnies with a possibility of looking at it from either point of view.. .. but the other day I was just in a bad mood..lol
that is why my opening statement was not something a spam bot would say.. but then 10+ year in admin, i have seen more than my fair share of spammers.

I agree, plus it seems pretty pointless since the guy running the spambot is never going to read the responses.

It could be a waiting period of 24 hours after signing (even a 2 hr waiting period will probably strain a spammer's patience).
Or, something similar to the voting rights - X-many entries required before being granted the privilege to start a new thread.

I'm not sure but I think that has been discussed in the past - but I think it is a very good idea.
I'm all for making them post as least one (verifiable chop) entry before being allowed to create a new thread. You are right, Voks, no spambot in its right mind would go to the trouble of creating a chop, posting it, and then try to sell us all Viagra or Battery Powered Fishing Lures.

Agree! Maybe after 10 entries you can vote and start a thread.

I think this is a good solution:
If you think it's spam, don't reply to the thread. That's only helping the spammers...
If it's inappropriate spam, or it's been there for a while (say... a few hours) you may want to contact a mod. The best place to look is in chat. If there are no mods online, feel free to shoot me a PM. I get e-mail on my phone, and if I'm not busy at work or school, I can take care of it from my phone too.

Battery Powered Fishing Lures Why wasn't I told? Speaking of fishing I rather enjoy some of the comments that "spam bait', as many of them are creative and IMHO funny as Hell! I say keep the profanity off, be creative with your choice of words, and hammer the spammers just for the fun of it. Really Rein, a battery powered fishing lure! What next?
