Hey, I've been there....
I had a 5 hour labor with my first, followed by two 3-hour labors with 2nd and 3rd.
For the fourth, we ran off to the hospital THREE TIMES and got sent home. The third time they sent me home I burst into tears right in front of the doctor and 2 nurses! Finally, my water had broken at home, so they we went down and they had to keep us...
Once I got settled into the room, they checked me and I was dilated at 4 cm... but my labor started almost immediately after that and *drumroll, please* after a TWELVE MINUTE, extremely intense labor, I had my daughter.
So, good thing we ran right down there that 4th time, or baby would have arrived at home, or in the car, or someplace else interesting!
