You know the funny thing here? I started with Macromedia Fireworks (now Adobe Fireworks of course). Then I outgrew that and went to GIMP because I couldn't afford Photoshop. At first I struggled with the PS interface. Nothing was where I expected it to be. I couldn't find anything, didn't know how to get the crop to actually crop, etc., etc. etc.

Now that I have CS3 I can't imagine going back to GIMP or Fireworks. Laughing

I'm in the same boat you were when you switched from GIMP to PS. I recently got PS7 but have been using Paint.net (PaintDotNet) for years. I can't find my arse from a hole in the ground with PS right now so I keep defaulting back to PDN. I open my chops in PS and in just a few minutes I am so dang frustrated that I can't do or find what I need that I just close PS and open PDN. I Need a personal, hands-on tutor. (any volunteers? hehe)
And what sucks for me, GIMP is just as bad as PS, can't seem to get around in it either.
Best advice is to simply stick with it. Find an interesting tutorial and do it. You'll learn the interface quickly if you do enough tuts.

I finally forced my own hand when I rebuilt my machine and only put Photoshop on. Left all other options out. Laughing

Shocked *hugs her PDN program protectively*

Noooooo I NEED it!

Anyone know of some good, clear vid tutorials for PS?
The ones I've found on youtube are a bit fuzzy and unfocused
in appearance.

Happy Chopping!

Lol...

Well my question was more gif based really. I make my work in PS... but as far as animation... PS = no clue. I can work on after effects really good and add effects, trim, and save to gif with the site limits covered. I just didnt wanna do that if I wasnt allowed...

I've used this site for a while and got some decent advice and some tutorials from it.

Here are but a few tuts on animation in PS. Start by going to window at top of screen and come down to animation. Then you have to choose between traditional cells or more modern flash type animation. Then when all put together you go to save for web and select Gif and resize images and fool with lossy and dither both really cute babes who like to play. And try them to reduce the k value as it gets close to the 512 k limit for entries here. Very Happy Very Happy
