Good, you are all beginning to see where I am going with this.
Now: Here is a new word - Underpants.
I know you can call them bloomers, bridges.... but, what other words are there?

I think here you mean "britches" which refers to a type of trousers (pants)that end just above the knee.maybe there were undergarments like britches which were also called britches (am I making sense?)  anyhoot ... I've always called them underwear and how about briefs I guess they were short underpants for men.

"that was FLAME".
syn: "that was good eats". "that was tasty". note - it only applies to food.

I've always been partial to calling them "lingerie." Before they were called thongs, we referred to them as fanny panties. Thongs are things one wears on their feet to the beach.

I call my "underpants" panties and the top part is a bra. Collectively, I call them underwear. Some people call ladies' lacy underwear "lingerie," "delicates," or even "unmentionables." I do call my fancy, lacy underwear "lingerie." My husband calls them "nice, but in the way."
