Runny Eggs on Rye
A long time ago, I think it is more then thirty years ago now, we would have lunch at work and one of my friends there would always get herself a plate with two slices of white bread, cheese and on top two runny eggs. She could scuff those away like there was no tomorrow, meanwhile talking about everything she could think about.
This fascinated us every time. And we could not stop staring at her mouth, talking, eating, with the little yellow egg in the corner of her mouth until she finished her plate and would finally use the paper napkin to wipe her mouth clean.
And each time we, while nibbling away at our own cheese sandwich, wondered, should we sit somewhere else next time and forgot about that again.
This morning I had breakfast – runny eggs on black rye bread. And while I was messing up my plate and eating, I suddenly remembered that girl. What would I look like, scuffing away my eggs? Not a pretty sight at all, I’m sure. And then it hit me.
Runny Eggs are best eaten with friends. Because, if everybody at the table is eating the same, and messing about in the same manner, then nobody would have to take offence.
And even better, it would make for lots of laughs.
Have a good one.
