There are newer versions than mine though. There is a plain touch screen one. Can't comment on battery life etc.

I've only had mine long enough to get through a couple of books and I'm not really a fast reader but battery life seems to be quite long..........even when it's off the screen saver is there (so it's never really off)......but doesn't seem to draw hardly any power

The e-ink screens are supposed to "feel" more like reading text on paper to the eyes. They are supposed to be better in bright sun, like at the beach, too. Because they are not self-illuminated, you will need an external light to see the screen, however the battery life is far longer between charges.

The tablet screens are just like the backlit screens on portable computers or many digital camera. They are prone to reflections / glare and fingerprints, but screen protectors help. They are completely usable without any external light, but will use up the battery in a matter of hours instead of days like the e-ink screens.

I think all of the available models (both e-reader and tablet) allow you to scale the text to your comfort.

Some things to consider: Size does matter, but bigger is not necessarily better. If you don't mind having to turn pages more often, smaller models will be lighter weight and more portable (able to fit in smaller bags / purses). Depending on your own hands and fingers, you may find the layout of controls more or less awkward depending on how close or small they are and whether you are trying to use it with just one hand. Sort of like the differences between a hardcover and a paperback book. There is something to be said for the keyboard feature. And, realistically, you might use your e-reader all the time for reading, but how often will you really need to connect, search, and download new material? Can you plan ahead to have the books you want before you leave home or will being able to connect on the spur of the moment at the beach make a big difference to you?

it's just that the DX model is really expansive so it's not an option for me.

Ok, so after much considerations I think it's time i've entered the world of touch-stuff.

And also the kindle touch seems like the most comfortable model for the most reasonable price.

I just told my husband about your e-reader dilemma, and he warned to check how many of Amazon's (or other) e-books are actually available for download in Israel. Apparently other international customers have discovered they can get hardly anything.

I read it too but since it was a translation of Larsson's original, I found it a little daunting.
I watched the original Scandanivian sub-titled series on Netflix and thought they were great.

My recommendations:

Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang - excellent short stories, really enjoyed it.

I'm currently reading short stories by Kafka and if you're in a mood for something depressing he writes wonderful stuff.
