Gain Karma by voting in dailies, entering dailies, have other members award some of their karma to people in forums, or for liking an entry... etc. Then, to participate in the H2H, you have to ante up all your Karma points with a minimum of X Karma. When you submit your entry, you'll get your points back at the end of the tournament if you continue to participate. No-show, and your opponent gets ALL your Karma points (you could have millions handed over to your opponent, LOL). Make the ante into the H2H so high that it would take a few months to gather enough Karma Points to enter if starting from zero.
Also, award different amounts/levels of Karma points to the victors of each round of the H2H.
Just an idea. Make Karma points something people desire.... it would increase participation in the daily contests, even if all someone does is vote every day. A member could even redeem Karma for Advantage if he/she accumulates enough.
We could call them Splodge Points.
this place has enough problems with voting... you want to add more?
Wont happen, but easy fix... Show up for what you've signed up for, or yer banned from the site for a year. H2H is supposed to be a fun side contest. Looks like this year there won't be any prizes, but who cares....
Forced 'karma' voting would not be a good thing. Isn't there already a site like that anyway? Don't force me to vote for things I normally wouldn't.
Sometimes I only vote for 1-3 entries in a contest. Sometimes 0. I hardly ever use all my votes in one contest. I don't think I even used them all in the Reunion Contest. So now I'd have to vote for more just so I can gain points? Pass.

worst part of the no-show is you get all dressed up... spend a whole week getting prepared... you buy the girl flowers...
just to be left standing there all alone.
All that hard work spent... for nothing.
The very LEAST you could do is PM the mods & your opponent and let them know...
hey, you don't need to work so hard. I'm not coming.

What happened with what?
My avatar isn't me as a boy.. It's Anthony Fremont from Twilight Zone.
If you don't know who that is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_a_Good_Life_(The_Twilight_Zone)
Quote: Anthony Fremont is a three-year-old being with near-godlike powers: he can transform other people or objects into anything he wishes, think new things into being, teleport himself and others where he wishes, read the minds of people and animals and even revive the dead. He may not be wholly human; hints in the story mention his "odd shadow" and "bright, wet, purple gaze," and the obstetrician at his birth was said to have "screamed and dropped him and tried to kill him." The town's children are told that Anthony is a "nice goblin" but they must never go near him.
Anthony's powers were present at birth, as he was able to kill the obstetrician and then, instinctively, separate his birthplace, the town of Peaksville, Ohio, from the rest of Earth moments after he was born. Nobody knows whether Anthony transported Peaksville somewhere or whether the rest of the world (or for that matter, the universe) was destroyed and only the town remains.
some would argue, but by far one of my favorite episodes.

nah... equal points for voting in a contest... whether you give out just one vote, or 25. You get 1 point. Win a contest, get 10 points. These don't have any real value, unless you want 3 month advantage and you've saved your points up for 4 years, that costs 10,000 points.
Even though the points don't have any currency value, it would have some work value for people who go up against a no-show. Your reward is all your opponents points. If points are too gay, then an alternative is to have a $5 H2H deposit. Lose the $5 to your opponent if you no-show.... wait, screw $5.... make it $1,000... yeah now we're talkin
