Funny, my hair balls smell like little squares of cheddar cheese floating in mayonnaise.

Wow! 20 Million... 2..uh...artisteses...
hmmmm I'm thinking a little psychiatric care with a STRONG dose of reality could have put the 20 million to much better use. I can think of at least ONE other thing to do with 20 Million in a city where ghettos, misplaced children, under-funded and under-staffed medical and schooling facilities and starving soup kitchens struggle daily.
To me it looks like and old car wash with fancy rags but without the cars, water, soap and usefulness to community. I don't see any artistic or even architectural value but the dollar value is staggering and indicates a sad self-absorbed, isolation from reality that is apparently embraced by the powers that be… at least the powers that thought “Yeah! What a great idea! Build a 20 million dollar car-wash-type-awning-art-thing for people to walk under! That’s JUST what this city needs to boost moral!”
Whew! Well apparently I found a soapbox today! Sorry for the rant, though I feel much better now.

EJH, I stand in awe of your stellar photography and am falling all over myself with appreciation and gratitude for your generous gift.
thanks for sharing. I considered their purpose after seeing a few spots on TV regarding the arches, and concluded they were useless and a waste of a ton of money.
However, after reading your accounts and arguements (not to mention seeing the stellar photos) in this thread, I wish I could find myself in the park walking the paths to make my own interpretations.
Thanks again and Well done.

i think it's a beautiful exhibit, and the folks who don't see the art in this, probably can't see the beauty in a lot of things in this life.

Hax, i know thats a dig at me..... and believe meI see the beauty in lots of things...... i see beauty where others dont.....I see beauty in people, in nature, in animals, in REAL art....
(Chagall is my fave artist)
i however think draping fabric on metal and telling ppl its art is sad and even sadder is when they believe it......
like i said before its boring, blah, nothing.
and it cost 20 mil... i find it s gross misuse of money, they could have donated it to the tsunami victims or something and helped people instead of presenting this uncreative boring display.......
IMO it wasnt worth the time, attention money or effort....
Now..... who wants to pay $10 to come see my kitchen curtains......

I'm new and learning the ropes... also I've never participated in a forum type setting before so I have no idea as to what the 'social rules and niceties' are...
Was my earlier post in keeping with the subject? It may seem like a silly question, I assure you I am sincere in asking it. Reading the threads gets confusing at times as they change and morph. My opinion of where the thread was intended to go and where it is really going may be off the mark. I guess I'm looking for a thread compass! ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) sort of... ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif)
