I am writing about a little boy named Mihai Hogas who lives in Romania. Mihai is in critical condition and in desperate need of a liver transplant.

What is truly heartbreaking is that a treatment for Mihai�s condition exists, but he lacks access to it. In Romania, such an operation is impossible due to many factors�the most important being that Romanian hospitals are not experienced in performing transplants on such young babies. Although Mihai could be treated elsewhere, the cost is prohibitive for a family that earns $600 a month. Mihai�s health is worsening by the day and his parents are going through an ordeal that no parent should ever go through�seeing one�s baby die a little every day.

I am writing to you because time is a luxury that Mihai can no longer afford. He has to have this operation as soon as possible. We have already raised some of the money needed for Mihai�s surgery and have found a transplant donor:

- With the help of newly made friends everywhere, the family was able to raise approximately 35,000 Euro. Although we are trying to raise money as quickly as possible, it will still take a long time to raise the entire amount of 85.000 Euro.

- A matching living donor has been found for Mihai. Although a total stranger, this woman is waiting to give a small piece of her liver to save little Mihai�s life. All medical tests have been completed and the donor was declared 99% compatible. Once again, hope has filled the hearts of this family who have been helplessly witnessing their baby�s suffering for so long.
